Instructional Design Framework:

Goal:

This framework will outline a method for curriculum development and education that has been shown to be highly effective for teaching Neurodivergent (ND) Business Owners and Entrepreneurs.

This framework can be used to build ND-specific business training for use in Solo School in a way that will promote effective learning among the ND students.

The goal is to create a new gold standard for ND business education.

Overview & Background:

The theory and practical application steps behind this framework have been used in technology education for years, across multiple disciplines. Incidentally, these methods have also proven to be highly effective for ND education.

Unfortunately, despite the myriad of evidence of the effectiveness of these methods in tech education, online education systems, especially those related to business, have strayed away from them in favor of didactic learning. This didactic learning forces students to consume all of the information while simultaneously trying to figure out how to apply it to their own situation.

The end result is confusion and overwhelm because the student is often unable to fully grasp the concepts before having to apply it to their own scenarios. Trying to apply their own situation with creative and critical thinking to brand new concepts, practices, or frameworks can cause overwhelm, especially in the ND learner.

This can stunt the learning process, and does a major disservice to the learner.

Planning:

These are the steps to take as you begin to build a curriculum using this Instructional Design Framework.

1. Course Summary

2. Identify 3-5 Segments

Building:

Once you’ve got the general idea of what the course will cover, it’s time to start building your curriculum pieces, starting with the fictional case study that will inform/guide your learners through the learning process.

3. Create the Case Study Brief
